Arnold could see that Angela had also come down and was holding the man by the arm as if preventing him from going anywhere. But the man was insistent and refused to listen to her. He pushed her and she fell to the ground as easily as a plastic doll.
Arnold watched as the man strode towards him. As he came over his eyes were fixed on Arnold. Arnold was already sizing up the approaching man and matching him to the voice he had heard over the phone the previous night. He did not need anyone to tell him that the man coming towards him was Michael.
“Are you Arnold?” the man asked when he had gotten close to him.
“Yes, I am Arnold Sanders. And you must be Michael. Michael Rowe, right?”
In response, Michael threw a punch at Arnold’s face. As the punch caught him, Arnold saw bright lights and stars as pain shot through the side of his head, went through his neck, and engulfed his brain.
The last thing he could see was Angela and Thomas trying to stop Michael before he hit him under the jaw.
And everything went dark.
